Over At the Start

Two plays into the scrimmage, I got tackled from behind after throwing a pass. That was the end of my time at the scrimmage, and my season.

Pending an MRI, I have either a very terrible sprain in my MCL, or it is torn. We have to wait for the swelling to go down before we know anything more.

We'll keep you updated, but right now I'm feeling like the Seinfeld episode, where this was "supposed to be the Summer of Kuflax!!".

Now, it's just me walking around with a busted wheel.

I think, Robyn, a PS3 right about now would really help *wink wink* soften the blow *wink wink*

Sorry dude. I was looking foward to seeing you at the bottom of many many more piles of people this year. Make sure you get in plenty of rehab before curling season starts.

Nick-

We wear red jerseys for practice, but this was a scrimmage against another team... so we used it as a 'live bullets' test.

Being a quarterback, I'm all for protecting the postition, but we're all players out there the same. ( I like the rule about '2 steps' after he's released the ball - but I think the slide rule is a pussification rule ). And while I understand no contact in regular practice, until there is a very serious pass rush, you can't simulate gametime conditions.

This scrimmage was designed to simulate a game, and give each player a chance to show what they've got when faced with those conditions.

For the moment, I'm of the mindset that my leg was in the wrong place at the wrong time. That attitude may change the longer I'm hobbled up. Right now, no blame. Just really farkin' sucks.

OK, so totally on the medical side here - who's your ortho?

GL...unusual to do an MCL repair unless meniscus is involved, but I've heard of docs doing 'em. Let me know if I can help out at all.

Isn't it "Sweep!"? We really have to get the lingo down if we're serious about doing this.

Best of luck on the recovery. Beer and Vicodin are a good mix. Or so I hear.

As the Momwoman, I did NOT LIKE seeing you carried off the field. I am all for the upcoming Curling season. Yeah! You can count on us to be a good cheering group!
